I dreamt last night that I was biking in a bike lane down a city street. The bike lane was in between the parked cars and the sidewalk. Not in between the parked cars and the moving cars.
I've heard this idea before, and I think they do it that way in Holland or somewhere. Still, what's to prevent you from getting doored on the passenger side?
I think that's always a risk, but at least you'd get launched into the sidewalk and not the oncoming traffic. Plus, completely switching the system and where we park might make people more aware and remind them to look...at least for a few years!
