Quick words from early spring

It's been a few days since I last wrote. I blame the 17 hour drive I did in one nearly delirious stretch, and the fever that caught me the second I walked into the door in my house in Boone. I burned and froze all night and woke up repeatedly soaking in sweat. The next day, I rolled over and blinked at the window: blue sky and a stream of warm sunlight. When I left North Carolina three weeks ago, it was buried under feet and feet of snow. The world was a white tunnel of chaotic snow flakes and wind. Now I return to a town that gets progressively greener each day, sunburned shoulders and people on the street who actually smile. This is not the Boone I had come to know in the past few months.

My first day I moved about as if in a dream, recovering from the sudden fever and putting things back where they belonged. In the evening Will and I went bouldering, and the simple feeling of hand against dry rock was almost bewildering in its sublimity.

Today I wrote web content all day for two rafting and kayaking businesses I work for, and now the sun is starting to hover with reluctance on the horizon. I have so, so, so much to write on here, but it will have to wait for just a little longer. The good news is, I'm learning how to 'scrapbook' which is not as lame as it sounds. It means I'm learning how to combine photos into one file so that they can appear as one combined strip on the website. No more long columns of single photos! Oh, except this last one: just some images of the world as it is lately:

Beautiful photos and words heralding the arrival of spring.
Hometeam looks intelligent and dignified with her ears perked up in front of a majestic snowy backdrop. :]
Melina, you truly are an inspiration. So much so I'm going to follow in your footsteps and make my own shoddy blog more public.. ^^;*
I hope we can be blog buddies now. ^_^V

Rose, I can't wait to read your blog! I will never forget how you blew me away in our writing class. I can't look at V8 the same way anymore. And speed bumps always remind me of you....remember?
